No application is required, and the scholarship is automatically granted to eligible students. Eligibility Criteria • Must be an international fee-paying student admitted to a full-time, first-year degree program at Waterloo starting September 2026. • Includes students applying from CEGEP. • Not available to: • Medical Sciences (Waterloo) and Doctor of Medicine (St. George's University) students • Bachelor of Social Work, Doctor of Optometry, Doctor of Pharmacy students • Transfer students admitted with transfer credits • Students who deferred admission from September 2025 to September 2026 • Students enrolled in 2+2 or similar x+y programs Scholarship Value and Disbursement • Total value: $10,000 awarded for the first year only. • Paid in two installments: • $5,000 in late July for first-term tuition • $5,000 in late November for second-term tuition • The scholarship applies only to the first and second term tuition fees and cannot be spread over multiple years. Conditions and Requirements • Must be enrolled full-time (three or more courses) in both first and second terms. • Must maintain international fee-paying status throughout the terms; any change in residency status or tuition fee classification will result in loss of eligibility. • No specific grade-point average is required beyond meeting the minimum admission requirements. Application and Award Process • No application is necessary; eligible students are automatically awarded the scholarship. • Scholarship details will appear on the Awards and Financial Aid tab in the Waterloo applicant portal starting mid-April. • No additional documents or bank information are required to receive the scholarship. Additional Notes • This scholarship does not replace or reduce other entrance scholarships from Waterloo; students may receive multiple awards concurrently. • The scholarship is designed to support international students in their transition to university by reducing financial barriers during their first year. Prospective international students planning to begin studies at the University of Waterloo in September 2026 should check their eligibility and watch for the scholarship award notification in their applicant portal starting in April. This generous funding opportunity helps make studying at Waterloo more accessible and affordable for international students demonstrating academic promise.
